Conflicts are an inevitable companion of all interactions, even business ones. On the one hand, they can become extremely dangerous, and on the other hand, they have creative potential.
There are different sources of conflict at work:
- Limited resources
- Differences in priorities
- Interdependence of jobs and processes
- Human nature itself, which carries competitiveness as an innate instinct
Finally, there is misunderstanding as a frequent source and at the same time an inevitable companion of the conflict. Experience teaches us that (mis)understanding is the starting point from which to approach constructive conflict resolution. It is at this point that a great space opens up for the improvement of our business skills. In this training, we approach the topic of empathy and practicing various techniques that can help us preserve the capacity to understand the other side in the circumstances of the conflict. We especially focus on distinguishing between understanding on the one hand and concessions on the other, and these are concepts that are often confused in practice. Behind that we focus on different approaches to conflict situations.
- How to preserve the capacity for understanding
- What are the approaches to conflict situations and when to use them
- How to distinguish whether the dialogue we are conducting is going in a constructive or destructive direction
- How to direct the dialogue in a constructive direction?
